Цели: развивать навыки монологической и диалогической речи по теме« Праздники и традиции англоязычных стран», совершенствовать лексические навыки и расширить лексический запас учащихся.
Задачи урока:
1)Развивающие: развивать интеллектуальные способности студентов, умение понимать прочитанный материал с опорой на лексические единицы, воспроизводить прочитанное с опорой на ключевые слова, наводящие вопросы.Развитие навыков коммуникативной компетенции по всем видам речевой деятельности.
2)Образовательные: закрепление грамматического материала (на компьютере) с помощью грамматических упражнений (подготовка к ЕГЭ)
, систематизация знаний, посвященных страноведческой теме.
3)Воспитательные: развивать у студентов самостоятельность мышления, расширение кругозора студентов, поддержание интереса к предмету.
Сопутствующие задачи: контроль уровня речевых умений (работа в парах)
Оснащение: мультимедийное оборудование, раздаточный материал, рисунки, диски
Тип урока: совершенствование и закрепление знаний по данной теме

I. Организационный момент.
1. Приветствие. Сообщение целей и задач урока.
Учитель: Good morning, boys and girls. Howareyou? I’m gladtoseeyou. Todaywe’re going to talk abouttraditions and holidays of English speaking countries. You will do some lexical exercises, will listen to the text, make up dialogues, and repeat grammar materials.

Christmas is one of the most popular holidays. It is celebrated on December 25.
Christmas is a religious holiday – the birthday of Jesus Christ. It is a family holiday.
All members of the family gather together on this day. There is a Christmas tree in every family. The rooms, the shops and the streets are decorated with colored balloons, paper chains and candles. The children put their stockings at the fireplace or at the top of their beds. They believe that Santa Claus will come and put his wonderful gifts into their stockings. The adults give each other Christmas presents and wish Merry Christmas.

Thanksgiving Day
There is one day a year when all Americans stay home with their families and eat a big dinner.
Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday in the USA. Its celebration goes back to the 17th century when the first Europeans left England to travel to the New World. They called themselves Pilgrims and most of them left their motherland because they didn’t agree with official religion in their country.
After the long and difficult journey on the Mayflower across the ocean, the Pilgrims found a place with fields and a stream of fresh water to drink and a lot of tall trees to use for house building. They gave the place the name of Plymouth and made their first colony there.
The first winter and spring in the new country were very hard for the Pilgrims.
There was little food and the pilgrims had great problems. Help came from the Indians who lived nearby. They taught the pilgrims how to grow corn, how to gather food and dry some of it for winter use. With the Indians` help the Pilgrims planted a lot of Indian corn. They worked hard and in autumn they had food for the winter ahead. The Pilgrims decided to celebrate it and to thank God for helping them. The women got the stream, made some salads. Twenty Indian friends came and stayed came and stayed three days. That was how the tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving Day started.
